Rainbow stains are one of the most interesting problems we have encountered in our 20+ years of glass restoration. We call them rainbow stains because of all the different colors that form on the glass which is created by the glass stored outside in the rain while the building is constructed. This continual contact with water in combination with a factory-applied high performance coating causes both sides of the glass to form rainbow staining that is cannot be removed with standard window cleaning procedures.
